Beat the Backlist 2017 | Final Roundup

So of my goal of reading 24 backlist books, I ended up reading only 19.

I’m a little disappointed in myself, but I also know I only have myself to blame for requesting too many egalleys on Edelweiss.

Still, it put a nice dent into my TBR pile, so I am definitely excited to continue with the 2018 challenge!  Just…with a smaller goal.

Year in Review | Favorite Reads of 2017

It’s that time again!  Happy New Year’s everyone!  I’ve already done my anticipated reads post for 2018, now it’s time to reflect on the books that I absolutely loved reading this year.  I read a total of 76 books, so there were a lot to choose from!  Most of these are releases from 2017, but some were not.  Some were middle grade books.  Most were YA.  Anyway, in no particular order at all, here are my favorite reads of 2017!  (I tried to do 17 books, but I couldn’t push it down past 18.  So, one for good luck, or something).

Books Read this Month | NOVEMBER 2017

Again, this month just wasn’t one for reading.  I think it was less about the lack of time, though, and more about the books themselves.  There were several I started and just didn’t finish, and others that just took longer than I expected.  In the end, it came down to 5 books being read by moi this month:

*indicates and ARC or egalley

Most enjoyed this month: Gunslinger Girl

Least enjoyed this month: A Conjuring of Light (only cause it took me forever to read)

Books Read This Month | September 2017

September is over, so it’s time to look back at what I read this month!  Which was…not a lot sadly.

I managed to read 5 books, apparently, only 1 of which counts for the Beat the Backlist challenge.  These would be:

All of them except for SJTR were an egalley or ARC.  Of them all, I most enjoyed Speak Easy, Speak Love and Jane, Unlimited (which was actually a nice surprise because I didn’t think I was going to like that one at all.  I didn’t not enjoy any of the books I read this month, either, which was nice for once.

August 2017 | #ARCAugust Wrap-Up & Books Read This Month

Well, it’s September 1st, so that means #ARCAugust is over.  I had an original goal of 12 books (yup, I knew I wasn’t going to be doing that) and managed to read 7 of the 12 with only 1 that I started and did not finish.  Not bad if I say so myself.  12 was kind of a stretch for me, so 7 is probably more than I should have expected.

The books I read for #ARCAugust and the month of August are:

The one egalley I started for #ARCAugust but did not finish was Zero Repeat Forever, by Gabrielle Prendergast.

Of the ones I read, I most enjoyed This is Not the End, Shimmer and Burn, The Epic Crush of Genie Lo, and The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding.  All were excellent reads in their own way and definitely ones I would recommend.  Thank you to Read.Sleep.Repeat for hosting #ARCAugust!  It definitely helped push me to read the ARCs and egalleys I needed to.  Too bad there isn’t one for September, cause I still have so many more to read.

Sadly, because I focused on #ARCAugust, I got absolutely nothing read for BeatTheBacklist.  :/

July 2017 | Books Read This Month

This month I sadly only managed to read 5 books, and only one of which works for Beat the Backlist (Twefth Night).  Three were egalleys and one was a reread.

The books I enjoyed most were definitely Twefth Night and The Last Magician.  TN was yet another Shakespearian comedy I loved, and TLM slowly dug its nails into until I was completely in love by the end.  I’m hoping to get more read this month, especially since I have a lot of egalleys and ARCs to get through…
