The Elemental Seriesby Brigid Kemmerer

I am doing something a little different, since I just blew through this series in like two weeks or something, and need to sort of let out my thoughts about this series in general.  Reviews for the individual books in the series can be found further down.

Series Review:

Okay, I went into this series expecting a fun, exciting story about boys who can control the elements and finding love and blah blah.  Okay, yes I did get that.  What I did NOT expect to get, was a family of brothers that I would absolutely fall in love with. Be On the Lookout For… SEVENTH BORN, by Monica Sanz

DSC_0430.JPG

This is probably unprofessional or something, but I couldn’t not say something – I just got my first book sent to me by Entangled Teen for review!  It was so long ago that I was contacted by them that I completely forgot and so it was such a nice surprise to get this in the mail.  It is a finished copy of Seventh Born by Monica Sanz, which comes out September 4th, 2018.  It is sounds pretty intriguing, like a mixture of The Queen’s Rising and Vampire Academy (minus the vampires), with lots of mystery as well.  I can’t say for sure if those comparisons are accurate, but I will hopefully let you know once I read it!

BookCon 2018

Okay, now that I’ve officially gotten my autograph tickets for BookCon, I am too excited and need to talk about it here.

I went last year to BookCon and it was amazing!  (If you’re super bored and want to read an extremely lengthy recap of it, click here).  I actually have less MUST-DO’s on my list this year, so I’m hoping to use the extra time going around the show floor and trying for prizes I didn’t get to last year because of the extra long lines. Anticipated Reads | 2018 Edition (The first half, anyway…)

Since it’s basically December and there aren’t any releases coming out that I am highly anticipating, I am going to do my 2018 Anticipated Reads now instead!  I’m just going to stick with the first half of the year for now, though, to keep things simple.

January

20181

Gunslinger Girlby Lyndsay Ely – Okay so I did just finish this one yesterday, so it’s not so much an anticipated read as it is an OMG ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR NOW read.  I loved this book.  It took me by surprise.  It’s got a little bit of the Wild West, a lot of Las Vegas and politics, and some sideshow/Moulin Rouge vibes thrown in as well.  Pity is a great protagonist, the characters are remarkably complex, and it just hooked me in and pulled me along from start to finish.

Unearthedby Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner – This is basically Indiana Jones in space, right?  Because I am so here for it.  I spent my childhood watching Indiana Jones religiously, and of course I love all things sci-fi and space.  So this is definitely one I am going to be making grabby hands for.

Books Read this Month | NOVEMBER 2017

Again, this month just wasn’t one for reading.  I think it was less about the lack of time, though, and more about the books themselves.  There were several I started and just didn’t finish, and others that just took longer than I expected.  In the end, it came down to 5 books being read by moi this month:

*indicates and ARC or egalley

Most enjoyed this month: Gunslinger Girl

Least enjoyed this month: A Conjuring of Light (only cause it took me forever to read)
