Book Challenge Declaration | Finishing the Series 2019

2019-FTS-Button-Border

Alright so I’ve decided to do it, I am going to do the Finishing the Series 2019 reading challenge (hosted by Celebrity Readers).  You can find the list of series I have started prior to 2019 that I hope to finish or catch up on before the end of the year here, which is where I will also be keeping track of the challenge.  I’ve added a lot of series, many of which I started in 2018 actually, but I also cut back my goal to the C-list level of finishing 1-4 series because I just failed completely at the B-list level (5-8 series) and hopefully setting a lower goal for myself will make me feel better about what I do complete.  Obviously there are more series listed than I will probably get to, but it’s nice to have choices.

2018 Reading Round Up

Here it is!  My 2018 Reading Round Up!  This year I tried to complete a few challenges, and while I didn’t complete them all, I am still content with what I did.  I started listening to audiobooks more this year and actually got really into them which is a plus, too.

First book read this year: Reign of the Fallenby Sarah Glenn Marsh
Final book read this year: Rosemarkedby Livia Blackburne

In Which I Declare My Intention to Join Another 2018 Reading Challenge!!

So, remember how I keep talking about how awful I am at finishing series?

Well, I think I just found the perfect challenge for me to join!

The 2018 Finishing Series Reading Challenge is exactly as it says it is: a year-long challenge dedicated to finishing series that you have started prior to the start of 2018.

I am going to keep a list here of all the books in the series I need to read, and come back once I finish them an mark them as read.  The order of the list is does not reflect the order in which I plan to read them, but rather just the order in which I thought of them as I wrote them down.  I will also be adding them to a Goodreads list, but more for me really.

So far in total I have 12 series listed that I want to maybe finish in 2018, but since I don’t think I will be able to do all of those, I think for this challenge I am going to aim to be a B-List Series Finisher (Complete 5-8 Series).  Of the ones below, the ones I really hope to finish/catch up on are The Chronicles of St. Mary’s, The Illuminae_Files, The Nevernight Chronicles, Creatures of Light, Monsters of Verity, The Diviners, and Charlotte Holmes.

TOTAL NUMBER OF BOOKS READ FOR THIS CHALLENGE IN 2018: 3
TOTAL NUMBER OF
SERIES FINISHED IN 2018 (SO FAR): 1

*Edit: I FORGOT THE DARK ARTIFICES!!  Added below.

Beat the Backlist 2018 | Goals & TBR

Well, this year’s BTB isn’t over yet, and I can already tell I’m not going to be finishing my goal for it, but I’m still determined to keep going!  That’s why I am going to participate in the 2018 Beat the Backlist – just with a smaller goal.  For 2017 I tried to do 24 books, so this year I am going to aim for 20.  I don’t have a specific list, but rather some select ones on a Goodreads list that I want to choose from.

I do have one major goal, aside from the number of backlist books I want to read, though – I want to catch up on all of the series that I have started, and own the sequels to, but haven’t read yet.  This includes The Illuminae Files, The Diviners, An Ember in the Ashes, and The Nevernight Chronicles.

Will you be participating in the 2018 Beat the Backlist challenge?

Update: I am on team DEWEY DRAGONS!  Hear me ROAR!

Goodreads Challenge is Complete!

challenge

Whoo hoo!!  I finished my Goodreads reading challenge!  I know 65 seems like a low goal compared to other people, but I try to give myself a goal of about 4 books per month and then some because I know I’m not always going to be able to read those 4 books per month (and other months I read well over 4).  Sometimes it’s due to a slump, other times it’s just due to outside factors (*cough*work*cough*).

I hope everyone else’s challenges are going well – just don’t stress out if you are a bit behind!

#24in48 Update

So I read for about 6 hours and 48 minutes today, but considering I only just found out about this read-a-thon this morning, I am going to go ahead and be okay with that.  Also I got distracted midway through when my LitJoyCrate arrived and I ended up doing an unboxing.

Anyway, I read The Wood by Chelsea Bobulski, and got to about 82% done with it (I started the day at 10%).  I have about an hour left according to my Kindle reading time calculator, but I’m getting tired and easily distracted so I’m just going to go to sleep and finish it tomorrow (I also have work in the morning so there’s that too).  I was originally really intrigued by the story in The Wood, but the relationship drama was a little predictable from the get-go, so that’s kind of making me a little disinterested in it.

Anyway, that’s all I did for the read-a-thon unfortunately.  I might get a few more hours in tomorrow, but I’m working an 8 hour shift so I doubt it will be much if I do.
