My Review:

Holy moly. This book. THIS SERIES. I just….I swear with each book it just gets better and better. The intricacies of the world-building and plot. The complexity of the characters. The slow-burn, scream-at-the-characters-to-just-kiss-already romance that is so much more than just romance, its soulmates. The high-paced action and gut-dropping twists and turns. If you haven’t caught on by now, I LOVED this book. Continue reading “Book Review | BLOODWITCH, by Susan Dennard”

Synopsis:

Before Safi and Iseult battled a Bloodwitch…

Before Merik returned from the dead…

Ryber Fortiza was a Sightwitch Sister at a secluded convent, waiting to be called by her goddess into the depths of the mountain. There she would receive the gift of foretelling. But when that call never comes, Ryber finds herself the only Sister without the Sight.

Years pass and Ryber’s misfit pain becomes a dull ache, until one day, Sisters who already possess the Sight are summoned into the mountain, never to return. Soon enough, Ryber is the only Sister left. Now, it is up to her to save her Sisters, though she does not have the Sight—and though she does not know what might await her inside the mountain.

On her journey underground, she encounters a young captain named Kullen Ikray, who has no memory of who he is or how he got there. Together, the two journey ever deeper in search of answers, their road filled with horrors, and what they find at the end of that road will alter the fate of the Witchlands forever.

As Shidadi and Dara alike prepare for war, Zivah and Dineas grapple with the toll of their time in the capital. After fighting alongside the Amparans against his own kin, can Dineas convince the Shidadi—and himself—where his loyalties lie? After betraying her healer’s vows in Sehmar City, can Zivah find a way to redeem herself—especially when the Dara ask her to do the unthinkable? And after reluctantly falling in love, what will the two do with their lingering feelings, now that the Dineas from Sehmar City is gone forever? Time is running out for all of them, but especially Zivah whose plague symptoms surface once again. Now, she must decide how she’ll define the life she has left.

Together, healer and warrior must find the courage to save their people, expose the truth, and face the devastating consequences headed their way.

My Review:

This was a very strong sequel to Rosemarked, and I absolutely loved watching the continuing journey of Zivah and Dineas after the events in the previous book. It was filled with action and intrigue and kept me engaged throughout. It left me feeling happy and sad, content with how things ended but also leaving things a little open-ended, not perfectly wrapped up in a neat little bow. Book Challenge Declaration | Finishing the Series 2019

2019-FTS-Button-Border

Alright so I’ve decided to do it, I am going to do the Finishing the Series 2019 reading challenge (hosted by Celebrity Readers).  You can find the list of series I have started prior to 2019 that I hope to finish or catch up on before the end of the year here, which is where I will also be keeping track of the challenge.  I’ve added a lot of series, many of which I started in 2018 actually, but I also cut back my goal to the C-list level of finishing 1-4 series because I just failed completely at the B-list level (5-8 series) and hopefully setting a lower goal for myself will make me feel better about what I do complete.  Obviously there are more series listed than I will probably get to, but it’s nice to have choices.
