The story centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. The musical addresses grief, depression, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life.

My Review: 

I’ve only been half-listening to the soundtrack for this musical since it first came out and when I was finally asked to do a lighting design for it and actually paid attention to it for once…wow. Just, wow.

Thrown together against their will in the class production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, along with the goofiest, cutest boy Claudia has ever known, Iris and Claudia are in for an eye-opening senior year.

My Review:

This was an absolute doll of a book. It made me laugh so much and I loved it. It was cute and funny, with some loveable characters (although I’m still not convinced Gideon Prewitt could actually exist.
